Growing up I never realized the extensive process that goes into processing and developing photographs. I always figured that I just take the pictures, mail them out and I would get them back in a few weeks. This was later replaced with going to Wal-Mart or Wegmans and developing my digital pictures at the kiosk in the store. After having to process and develop my own film I realized that the process is far more involved than I thought.
As far as taking pictures, I have always just taken pictures of whatever I liked at the moment; it may be a bird flying or new car in a lot or a building. I never thought about depth of field or focus point, I just took pictures of what I found interesting at that moment. While taking this course I realized that I tended to veer more towards symmetry in my pictures and that my subject matter has become more concentrated in the areas of interest that have affected my life the most – namely sports and landscapes.
The digital pictures on here hold a special place in my heart. They are pictures of hand-made circus models; the creator was my Great-Grandfather Everett Baker. With the exceptions of the figurines, he created everything in the circus that is on display at the Tioga County Historical Museum in Owego, NY. The day I took the pictures there was only a partial set-up of the entire circus. The full circus is going to be set-up in January 2017.
